Van Driver - Homework Help Program
Position Summary
Van Drivers support the Homework Help program by safely transporting elementary and middle‑school students to and from programming at Easter Lutheran Church. Drivers ensure timely pick‑ups from schools, maintain a calm and supportive environment in the van, and uphold all safety and driving standards. This position follows the ISD 196 school calendar. There is no program on district‑scheduled holidays or the day before a holiday break. Optional mid‑shift hours allow drivers to assist with tutoring or program support.
Primary Responsibilities
Student Pick-Up (2:30pm–4:00pm):
Pick students up from designated ISD 196 schools and transport them to Easter Lutheran Church.
Student Drop-Off (5:30pm–approximately 6:30pm):
Drive students to their home locations at the end of the program.
Optional Mid-Shift Duties (4:00pm–5:30pm):
Assist with tutoring or homework support
Refuel the van as needed
Support program staff with simple tasks
Safety & Conduct:
Maintain a calm, respectful, and supportive environment for students
Follow all traffic laws and organizational safety procedures
Conduct basic vehicle checks (fuel level, cleanliness, safety equipment)
Commitment Options:
Drivers may commit to pick-up only, drop-off only, or both.
Qualifications
Minimum 21 years old
High school diploma or equivalent
Eligible to work in the U.S.
Must pass a background check
Clean driving record
Comfortable driving a 15-passenger van
Reliable, punctual, and able to follow a consistent weekly schedule
Experience working with youth is helpful but not required
Compensation
This is a paid hourly position. Hourly Rate: $20–$24 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
Drivers who choose to assist with tutoring or mid‑shift program support between 4:00pm and 5:30pm are paid for those optional hours as well.
